BERGAMOT (Citrus bergamia)

The fruits of the Bergamot tree have been used medicinally for hundreds of years. Bergamot has a wide spectrum of applications, but is particularly useful for mouth, skin, respiratory and urinary tract infections, depression and anxiety, and in skin care. It also inhibits certain viruses, in particular the Herpes Simplex virus, which causes cold sores. Bergamot, with its fresh, sweet-fruity scent is like sunshine in a bottle, and creates an uplifting, cheerful effect.

Contraindications and safety: Photosensitizer. Do not apply directly to skin (use a carrier). May cause sensitivity and irritation.

Blends well with: basil, clary sage, other citrus, eucalyptus, frankincense, geranium, jasmine, juniper, lavender, neroli, and patchouli

Application: Use as an inhalant, in a diffusor, or on skin with  a carrier oil.
