Founder • Herbalist • Botanical Formulator • Author

Beverley Gray is the founder and creative force behind Aroma Borealis, a northern apothecary rooted in the wild plants and living intelligence of the boreal forest.

She lives in a log home in the Yukon, where Aroma Borealis began, and has spent over 30 years creating natural body care, herbal remedies, and teas inspired by the plants of the North and a philosophy of preventative health and connection to the land.

Beverley is a herbalist, aromatherapist, natural health practitioner, journalist, and botanical formulator. She is the author of the national bestselling, award-winning book The Boreal Herbal: Wild Food and Medicine Plants of the North, as well as A Field Guide to Medicinal Wild Plants of Canada, and has written for many publications over the years.

Her work is shaped by a lifelong relationship with plants and the teachings of the land. As a mother of two daughters and grandmother of five, she is deeply committed to passing on plant knowledge and reverence for nature.

She has been honoured to share this work at herbal gatherings, workshops throughout the Circumpolar North, across Canada, US, Ireland, and Scandinavia. She carries deep respect for the First Nations of the land she lives on and has been guided by Elders in the teachings of right relationship with plants, the land, and all living beings learning to harvest with care, reciprocity, and respect.

In her personal time, Beverley returns to one of her ancestral lands of Ireland, where her family home sits among the hedgerows and sea. There, she continues to learn the plants of her celtic lineage and honours the wisdom of the bean feasa;the wise women who carried plant knowledge through generations.

Deeply rooted in a love of family, creator and the natural world, Beverley sees nature as her greatest teacher and constant muse.

Natural Product Advisor ~ Lead Sales

Hi, my name is Kathryn Linklater I was born in Inuvik and raised in the Yukon where I also raised my daughter Aisha.

I am a member of the Tetlit Gwich'in Nation of Fort McPherson N.W.T.

I have the privilege of working alongside my daughter and sister who are also a team member at Aroma Borealis.

I enjoy paddle boarding and exploring the backcountry in all its beauty and splendour.

For me working at Aroma Borealis is a natural fit and I look forward to providing all our clients and customers with personalized service that reflects our community values.

My name is Aisha Alwarid. I’m Yukon born and raised! I enjoy Exploring music as well as the outdoors and love fashion.

I am a part of the Production team at Aroma Borealis. I work hard to hand make the best quality products for our lovely customers :) Occasionally you may catch me on our store floor where I love to catch up with our community and all the wonderful folks that come by, so when you do come by always feel free to say hi!

I have loved my position at Aroma Borealis because it really helps connect myself to my Gwich'in First Nations culture which is filled with an abundance of traditional herbal remedies and medicines. Each day I get a step closer to learning and experiencing how my ancestors once lived and how they nurtured themselves and their community. I also get to experience the amazing knowledge of Beverley Gray and what she brings to the practice from her Irish heritage. All and all everyday is quite the experience with our amazing team and I feel blessed to be a part of it :)

My name is Brittany and I am a herbalist with a background in culinary arts and nutrition. I currently work admin with Aroma Borealis and you will occasionally find me on the shop floor connecting with customers or creating social media content. I love weaving herbal knowledge into everyday life, blending herbal medicine with food and nutrition to create kitchen-based healing that feels intuitive, nourishing and accessible. My future hopes are to continue sharing this knowledge through workshops and one on one consultations.

At home my family and I spend our time homesteading, gardening, foraging mushrooms, harvesting herbal medicines, hunting, and exploring business adventure through Rumble Ridge. Every day we learn more from the land in a self-sufficient way.

My name is Ceilidh, and I’ve been part of Aroma Borealis for most of my life. I was born in Yellowknife, NWT, and moved to the Yukon as a baby, growing up in the bush at Rat Lake with my family and my mom, Beverley Gray.

I hold a Bachelor of Arts from UBC and have worked with Aroma Borealis for many years in marketing, administration, and creative development. After returning from Ireland, where I lived near Dingle with my husband Tom, I spent a year working in the shop and behind the scenes, supporting marketing, advertising, and the day-to-day flow of the business, which felt especially meaningful to be part of.

Tom and I have three young children; Liam, Fiadh, and baby Meadhbh. Liam and Fiadh were born in Ireland, and our youngest, Meadhbh, was born here in the Yukon.

My sister Markie and I were the inspiration behind the Vintage Fireweed Fairy line, created by our mom when we were young. More recently, I’ve also been involved in running the Fireweed Market in both summer and the winter Christmas season.

I’m currently on maternity leave and enjoying this wonderful time with my family. I’m passionate about natural living, baking and preparing whole foods from scratch, and I’m currently studying to become a doula, with a deep interest in birth, lactation, and family care. It feels special to be raising my children in the Yukon, and to continue being part of the Aroma Borealis story.
