Beverley Gray is the founder and creative force behind Aroma Borealis, a northern apothecary rooted in the wild plants and living intelligence of the boreal forest.
She lives in a log home in the Yukon, where Aroma Borealis began, and has spent over 30 years creating natural body care, herbal remedies, and teas inspired by the plants of the North and a philosophy of preventative health and connection to the land.
Beverley is a herbalist, aromatherapist, natural health practitioner, journalist, and botanical formulator. She is the author of the national bestselling, award-winning book The Boreal Herbal: Wild Food and Medicine Plants of the North, as well as A Field Guide to Medicinal Wild Plants of Canada, and has written for many publications over the years.
Her work is shaped by a lifelong relationship with plants and the teachings of the land. As a mother of two daughters and grandmother of five, she is deeply committed to passing on plant knowledge and reverence for nature.
She has been honoured to share this work at herbal gatherings, workshops throughout the Circumpolar North, across Canada, US, Ireland, and Scandinavia. She carries deep respect for the First Nations of the land she lives on and has been guided by Elders in the teachings of right relationship with plants, the land, and all living beings learning to harvest with care, reciprocity, and respect.
In her personal time, Beverley returns to one of her ancestral lands of Ireland, where her family home sits among the hedgerows and sea. There, she continues to learn the plants of her celtic lineage and honours the wisdom of the bean feasa;the wise women who carried plant knowledge through generations.
Deeply rooted in a love of family, creator and the natural world, Beverley sees nature as her greatest teacher and constant muse.
