I've wanted this book since visiting the Yukon in 2019 and again in 2023. Why did I wait so long?!! LOVE IT!!! I love the stories and connections to the land and indigenous roots. Very well done!!! Boreal Herbal is the book that started our herb journey of understanding the medicine all around us. We bought our first copy in 2020 and it has since been a best seller for us in our online store and farmers market sales. the book has very good pictures and descriptions of each plant, tree or herb. Amazing recipies and we especially appreciate the tables to help know what each herb is for. We would highly recommend it for anyone wishing to understand the medicines of the boreal forest

What an INCREDIBLY POWERFUL book! It has everything I wanted and more! Literally tells you the plant names, family, botanical descriptions, habitat and range, plant parts used, harvest time, medicinal actions, preparations, uses, food uses, other uses, cautions, and recipes! This book is my guide. Thinking of buying a few more to pass out to my friends and family, it's a perfect gift of knowledge. You won't regret this purchase!
"Fool proof". This book is well worth its weight in gold if you ask me. It includes descriptions, habitat and range, plant parts used, havest time .... so much info. Herbs, berries and trees are in this book. Has medicinal preparation recipes and food recipes as well. Also includes reference for botanical terms, herbal constituents, medical action of plants and information charts. This is what you need to start !

This would be the one! It is always my first go-to, with handy cross-reference in the back when looking for what to use for what symptoms etc.
While visiting Whitehorse with a friend from Teslin, we stopped in to Beverly Gray’s store. She was in the store and talked to us about certain herbs for detox, leg cramps, and teas. Had to purchase this book while in her store because it’s a wealth of knowledge.

I love this book
This book is really well done and is a valuable tool for anyone living or exploring the northern boreal forests of Canada. The book includes information on plant identification, location, medicinal uses and recipes. If you are in doubt you may be able to borrow this book from your local library first. I borrowed it twice then decided to just purchase my own copy that I now take with me into the bush. I have another book on herbal medicine that I find compliments this one very well. The Northern Boreal is great for plant identification, location and harvest information while the other provides more detail on medicinal uses. Overall I really enjoy this book and highly recommend.
Love the book
I have so many herb books but this one is a go to in teaching methods of using herbs and trees. And you can tell the author has amazing knowledge of plant use that goes back in history. I believe I will learn more about collecting and using plants from this book. Well worth the cost. I wanted to learn more about Old Man's Beard because I'd heard of it healing a child of whooping cough and it does tell about this lichen.

I bought it gently used and it's great! It goes over everything, and I mean everything for herbalist work. I live in interior Alaska so this book has been great, as I'm recognizing so many plants I now know that I can use! It goes over plant history, medicinal and food uses, geography, and even spiritual aspects. Would recommend!
